Camping with us? It’s a blast! But the sinequanone condition is that everyone gets involved, otherwise it’s exhausting. Like the legend of the hummingbird, if everyone participates even the greatest things become possible.
One day, in the Amazon forest, a storm started a gigantic fire. The terrified animals watched helplessly as the disaster unfolded. All of them … except the little hummingbird who was busy fetching a few drops of water from the river with his beak to throw them on the fire. “I’m doing my part, I’m doing my part!” the hummingbird repeated to the other disbelieving animals. What if everyone did the same?
A Native American legend
This Native American legend reminds us that every action we take, no matter how small, have an impact.
At 1001 Nights, we believe that every Nighter has the responsibility to participate and contribute to our camp’s success. By involving every Nighter in camp operations, we create a positive and collaborative community where everyone feels empowered to contribute and make a difference. This not only enhances our own experience but also creates a welcoming and inclusive space for others to join and participate in. Together, we can create something truly magical and unforgettable that goes beyond our own individuality.
To be a Nighter, what I commit to:
- Apply the Burning Man 10 Principles which are also the Principles of the camp
- Make 8 hour shifts on playa to support camp operations and create the magic. Everyone is a contributor on playa. A minimum of 8 hours is required
- Take part in a teardown shift on Saturday or Sunday of burn week. THIS IS MANDATORY for all Nighters
- Pay my camp dues on time. Otherwise your place will not be guaranteed
- Be at least 21 years old due to our on-playa bar and the need to comply with Nevada liquor laws
- Responsible to get your trash back, you are on the sacred land of the Paiute tribe so do not leave anything behind. In the event of any vehicle leaks, please report them immediately and take all necessary measures to contain the spill as soon as possible
- Respect for myself and others, for the playa, for the sleep of our neighbors and for all the organization that surrounds us including the police. We have zero tolerance for violence, drama, discrimination or sexual misconduct. You will be asked to leave our camp immediately
Non-respect of any of these rules will result in the inability to camp with us in future years
